Goodreads Synopsis: Emma is tired of being good. Always the dutiful daughter to an overprotective father, she is the antithesis of her mother -- whose name her dad won't even say out loud. That's why meeting Siobhan is the best thing that ever happened to her...and the most dangerous. Because Siobhan is fun and alluring and experienced and lives on the edge. In other words, she's everything Emma is not.

And it may be more than Emma can handle.

Because as intoxicating as her secret life may be, when Emma begins to make her own decisions, Siobhan starts to unravel. It's more than just Dylan, the boy who comes between them. Their high-stakes pacts are spinning out of control. Elaborate lies become second nature. Loyalties and boundaries are blurred. And it all comes to a head at the infamous Afterparty, where debauchery rages and an intense, inescapable confrontation ends in a plummet from the rooftop...

This explosive, sexy, and harrowing follow-up to Ann Redisch Stampler's spectacular teen debut, Where It Began, reveals how those who know us best can hurt us most.

From Goodreads

Afterparty by Ann Redisch Stampler was a book filled with such great expectations - the great cover, snippet of the book in the back, and the story itself. But just within 50 pages of the book I hated everything from the characters to the ridiculously stupid plot filled with stupid lines and dialogue. It didn't combine well and it was such a huge letdown. Promising cover but the most borry plot line with flat and paunchy characters.

In Afterparty, we meet Emma the good girl that is always under her father's watchful eye. Even with all the good things she's doing she can't help to really be alive and wild. She soon meets Siobhan and things take a turn. She starts to lie, cheat, and go wild. Party after party and Emma starts to loose sight of her good. Let me just say how great the sypnosis is on the book. It sounds great right? But it just doesn't deliver for me. The writing and they way Emma or Siobhan talked was off putting and it felt disconnected. Nothing jelled together and it fell apart, from the plot to the characters.

One thing I did like about the book was the texts Emma and Siobhan shared. It was fun and quirky and I wished Ann took on that approach with the whole book. Afterparty is not a book for everyone, but I still would tell people to try it out. You never know if you will like or hate something, you really have to see how it turns out.
